Shallow Hal

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" comes alive in this movie called Shallow Hal. Many people are held captive all through their life in permanent hypnotism by the media, the show business, the magazines, the advertisement etc. But each person holds a unique value no matter how "ugly" one appears. If a person is beautiful on the inside his/her true beauty will reflect on the outside. This is what this movie Shallow Hal teaches us.

This is about a man's journey of finding true beauty out of artificiality. I realised how people are judging everything today. From the hair to the toe, everything is judged and hearts get broken. This movie opened my eyes. I believe I started to look at the world in a different way. If what you see by eyes doesn't please you then close your eyes and see it from your heart because the heart can see beauty and love more than the eyes can ever wonder!

Jack Black is a great actor and does absolute justice to his role. Although the movie is a comedy genre, but the lesson it teaches us is incredible. Its a beautiful rollercoaster ride of emotions. This 2001 American fantasy romantic comedy film starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black is about a shallow man who falls in love with a 300-pound woman only because of her inner beauty. Hal Larson (Jack Black) is a superficial man with a heart of gold whose fixation on the physical beauty of women gets in the way of seeing their inner beauty. Hal dates only women who are physically beautiful. One day, however, he runs into self-help guru Tony Robbins, who hypnotizes him into recognizing only the inner beauty of women. Hal thereafter meets Rosemary, a largely obese woman whom only he can see as a vision of loveliness. At first Rosemary thinks his compliments are ironic insults, and is wounded. Then she realizes he's sincere, and really does think she's beautiful. And not only rosemary, Hal begins to see every person to be beautiful, who had a good heart, no matter how they looked physically. Hal saw them as a gorgeous person only because they're beautiful from the inside. Rosemary and Hal then begin an enchanted romance, to the consternation of Hal's friends, who can't understand why he's dating this fatso. Thus Hal's friends try to undo the hypnosis. But will their relationship survive when Hal's equally shallow friend undoes the hypnosis?

Previously due to Robbins' hypnosis, Hal saw Cadence, a burnt victim who had lost her parents and was in a hospital as a perfect little girl; he now sees that there are severe burns all over Cadence's face. Inspired by Cadence, Hal changes his views on the physical appearances of people in general. This was truly the most heartbreaking scene in all the movies I've ever seen. Hal, envisioning Rosemary's kindness and humour as female physical nirvana, is instantly smitten and an idyllic romance begins. When the spell is broken, Hal faces an unrecognisable Rosemary and learns one of the life's most important lessons. He truly loved her and that's what really mattered and they lived happily ever after without having their physical flaws come in the way.

In the relationship Of Aarohi and Rohan too, they too have physical flaws, they too aren't the perfect embodiment of physical beauty, but Aarohi loves Rohan from her heart without letting any of his physical flaws come in the way and same is with Rohan, he isn't bothered by any of her flawed looks and loves her truly from his heart because they know what true love is and love is perfect, beauty isn't. They know each person holds a unique value, no matter how "ugly" one appears. If a person is beautiful on the inside, his/her true beauty will reflect on the outside. It is thus said that its always in the inside that matters!
