Aarohi: Okay, let’s start! (click...clack..click..clack)

Aarohi types on her laptop

Rohan: Start what? This early in the morning!

A: Oh you awake?

R: Certainly, the rattling noises of yours is enough to wake me up. What are you doing at this hour? Its 4 AM!

A: Umm... Nothing much! Just completing a movie review for my blog. I just felt that I need to do it. I mean it’s a beautiful movie!

R: Really? What is it? Tell me.

Aarohi gets up from her chair and asks Rohan to go back to his room.

A: Alright! Alright! You can read my post and find it out yourself, now go and sleep, you’ve got to go to work.

R: Aargh!! Okay, but do tell me.

A: Sure thing!

"Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

What is love? Well, it’s certainly an emotion that brings people closer, a feeling of getting to know each other better right? But what if that feeling starts to get boring and we feel

frustrated with each other.. Does love still exists or it gets lost forever? Can we unlove love? Well, this movie explains it very well about this dilemma of transpiring in love.

On a gloomy and depressing Valentine’s day morning, Joel Barish, a pretty introvert kind of guy met Clementine, a full-on extrovert girl who is a pretty spur-of-the-moment person

and speaks her mind, on the train trip to Montauk, Long Island. The two of them zinged instantly and got more allured to each other every time they met, just like the old lost lovers. Furthermore, soon after we see them going on dates together which happens to be the frozen Charles River, where they had a nostalgic feeling of reliving their lost memories. But little do they know that they are actually former lovers who erased

their memories of one another to vanquish their sufferings. Joel who felt betrayed and heartbroken when he uncovered about Clem’s erasing of his

memories was engulfed in a feat of anger and in burning rage he decided to do the same to himself on the eve of Valentine’s day. He hires certain specialists who aced in that job and

acknowledged to the Lacuna firm’s specialization in removing unwanted memories of their clients. In the long vigilant process, Clementine’s memory living in Joel’s mind slowing fades away and goes into an abyss. First, the most recent ones where they seemed

to indulge into bickering and growing constantly annoyed at each other a hell lot. Yet gradually we get to witness the happy times the couple used to spend together, laughing and eating and enjoying every moment that flies by. And Joel after seeing and living those beautiful memories yet again hesitates to continue the process as he feels that these were the times which were precious to both of them. The nicknames that he gave to his beloved, the times spent in Charles and the memories that they lived together, all were very much precious to him and he doesn’t want them to go away. Therefore, he attempts to take Clementine and protects her memories as they run from the dismantled memories happening in Joel’s mind. We see the two trying every possible

means to preserve Clementine’s moments in Joel’s conscience but it fails every time Joel tries to give a sign to the technicians to stop the process. At last, they come to the last memory to be wiped out of Clementine and the very first time Joel encountered her, in

Montauk. Joel cherishes his last memory with Clem before she whispers in his ear to come at Montauk and everything started crumbling down before him. The next morning we find a new Joel with forgotten memories, this morning is kind of depressing. He does not want to go to work but has an urge to visit Montauk.

Now we are back in the present time where Clementine and Joel prepare to go to Joel’s house. Clem puts a cassette that was entrusted in a letter and finds out the confidential recording of her erased memories of Joel. Both are confused about what’s going

on and they end up arguing and Clem comes out of Joel’s car. Later Clementine comes over at

Joel's house to witness a similar kind of recording being played in the Barish house. We come to know that these tapes were sent by one of the employees named Mary who also

erased her memories due to a love affair happening with her married boss Howard, but on the previous night her erasing of the memories was revealed by the boss’s wife who happened to see them making out. Believing that memories shouldn’t be ever erased and that it is an unfair business, Mary quits her job and steals all the confidential documents of

their clients and sends it back to them. Meanwhile we see Clementine, disbelieving their deeds and trying hard to get back afresh and attempts to leave again. But this time Joel

stops her and ensures her whatever’s done is done and that everything that happened was worth it. Clementine finally reconciles and we see both of them agreeing to give a chance to continue their story again.

Honestly, I believe that it is the true love that brought both of them together again. They weren’t to be broken easily because after both of them lost their memories they always felt a connection between them and being apart made them empty and suffer. They both realised the importance of each other and they completed each other in their memories' jigsaw puzzle. Truly, love does not need to be stored in memories. It is the unimaginable

essence that creates an inseparable bond between people.

R: Hey, you aren’t done yet?

A: Yeah almost done, wait a minute.

A: Do you think you would be able to recognise me if you ever lost... I mean forget me?

R: Why the sudden query?

A: Umm... Just I wanna know if we ever like lose our memories or what if we never met… Will we able to find ourselves again, will we be happy?

Rohan comes forward and holds Aarohi’s hands.

R: Didn’t I already tell you?

A: Tell me what?

R: You’re engraved in my heart and as long as my heart beats it’ll keep beating for you. I will find you wherever you are, anywhere you are. And the heart never loses memories you know.

A: Thank you for loving me so much!
