Forever My Girl

aaroadventures

'Forever my Girl' is a kind of movie you as a couple mustn't miss out watching. Starring Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe as the lead characters, the movie is written and directed by Bethany Ashton Wolf.

The story revolves around the life of two characters, a singer and an ordinary girl who have been high school lovers. The movie highlights two important gender tendencies. A fickle and immature guy Liam Paige in love with a patient and resilient girl Josie. The guy who has climbed to the loft of his musical career with a hefty schedule leaves the love of his life at the altar by not coming to his wedding. Not until 8 years pass by and he has a hometown calling because of the demise of his then best friend in a car accident. The movie unfolds a new era when he drives back to his town Saint, only to be called a douche for ditching his love then. The 8 long years seem to have changed a lot but the hospitality and unison of the residents who flew to the local church every Sunday isn't forgotten. The local priest, Liam's father is equally dejected and embarrassed with his son's leaving although he took him in. Liam, however, discovers a truth that is going to deflect his life to a new direction altogether. He has a 7-year-old daughter Billy with Josie, who Josie, her brother and Liam's father have tended to all these years. Billy was also his deceased mother's name that Josie retained for her would-have-been-father-in-law's sake. As Liam unveils this fact, his estranged social skills seep in and he tries to bond with his daughter to which everyone including Josie and her brother, in particular, are reluctant about. As he attempts to infuse the voids with love and laughter, he ends up discovering her inborn talent towards music and playing the guitar. Liam wants to mentor her in this and therefore buys her her first guitar. There is a school level talent program in the offing where he wishes to register her for. Meanwhile, his shrouded love for Josie voices itself proclaiming his love for her on the national channel when they are off for a plump, celebrity outing.

Despite the good times, Liam is yet to learn about sorrow that blots happiness while being a part and parcel of life. In one playful get together while the father-daughter duo is having supper, Billy starts choking to which Liam freezes like he did while his mother was on her death-bed. Now Liam convinces himself that his lovely family is better off without him as he leaves again. All the people he had made memories with are left heartbroken. But this journey turns out to be shorter than his last. He understands that he has finally found his home- his peaceful dwelling in his family of four including Billy, Josie and his dad. Carrying his sole highschool phone, keeping it with him all his life that had that one last voice mail of Josie asking him to come back and proclaiming her unrequited love for him, kept his love safe for her. As he stands outside her window in the rain shouting her name, he leaves his phone behind containing his voice message for her. The next day dawns. Josie in a fit of rage heads to his home and makes him swear about his permanent stay with them no matter where he went, to which the sleepy Liam earnestly agrees to. They seal their love with the much-awaited kiss and resume their interrupted marriage. Liam now starts travelling to different places with his family especially his talented Billy playing with him in front of the world.

Rohan and I wish to have the kind of love that Josie and Liam had for each other- unattenuated, resilient and complete. Love that defiles boundaries although we never wish to be apart but if we had to, we hope we save our comfort and love in each others' arms only because I love you Rohan!
