"Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ramleela is a romantic thriller Bollywood film. It was released in the year 2013 and was quite a success in the box office. The film was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who produced the film with Eros international. The lead roles in the film were played by Deepika Padukone as Leela, and Ranveer Singh as Ram.
The plot of the film is quite interesting. The main story takes place in a fictional Gujrati village which is named as Ranjhaar. The village is famous for its manufacturing and trading of arms and ammunition. There are two clans in the village – Rajadi and Saneras – who have been at odds with each other for more than 500 years. The story starts with Bhavani, a Saneras, who fires on Meghji Bhai's son, a chieftain of the Rajadis and almost kills him. This leads to the almost murder of Bhavani by Meghji Bhai, but Bhavani is saved by Ram, Meghji Bhai's younger brother, who believes in making a respite and maintaining peace with the other clan.
On one occasion, Ram goes to the house of the Saneras which is a very bold move. There he meets Leela. From that point of time, they both fall in love with each other. As we see in different Bollywood movies the hero getting desperate to win his lady love, the same trend is followed in the film. The story follows a lot of events thereafter, with the police being bribed to raid the house of the Rajadis but Ram comes to the rescue of the family by bribing the police officer. But the story takes a turn when Kanji Bhai Leela‘s elder brother kills Meghji Bhai and in turn, is killed by Ram. Ram and Leela decide to elope from this clash between the two clans and eventually they marry each other. But Ram is eventually found and tracked by his friends who betray him and send the information about his location to Leela's family. The next morning Ram is inhabited by his friends and Leela is forcibly taken back to her house by Bhavani and her cousins. Ram has been made the chieftain of the Rajadis as a reward for soiling the reputation of Leela.
Meanwhile, Dhankor Baa is preparing for the engagement of Leela with an NRI. Leela refuses to wear the ring showing another ring which Ram has given her. This agitates her to a great extent and Dhankor Baa cuts Leela‘s finger along with the ring. Ram hearing this also cuts one of his fingers. Leela has still faith in Ram sending Rasula, the widow of Kanji to give Ram a final ultimatum to take her away but she is assaulted by Ram's friend, and in turn the Saneras tries to assault Kesar Meghji's widow who manages to escape. Ram after hearing the information gets very agitated and storms into the house of Leela, incapacitating the guards single-handedly. Ram has gone to Dhankor Baa with the proposal to have peace between the two clans. Dhankor Baa invites Ram to celebrate Navaratri with the Saneras as she has an intention to kill him.
On the occasion of Navratri, Bhavani shoots at Dhankor Baa secretly so that the blame can be put upon the Rajadis. She has been seriously injured. Hence Leela is made the chieftain of the Saneras after her mother is injured. Both Ram and Leela sign an agreement which states that both the Saneras and the Rajadis will not interact with each other ever again and they divide the travel and trade routes among themselves. Bhavani does not like the development at all and hence he tricks Leela into signing a document that orders and approves the unrestrained killing of the Rajadis. On the night of Dashera when the Ramleela parade is in progress, many Rajadis are killed. The village is on the brink of battle, and Ram realises it. He goes to Leela and they both decide that they are each other's soulmates and hence they shoot each other to death.
Dhankor Baa has a change of mind and she offers to have a peace established between the two clans. She understands that Bhavani doesn’t want this to happen and has an ill motive. So, she orders the execution of Bhavani. The film ends with the two clans coming together and cremate the body of the two lovers placing them side by side and bringing their souls together after their deaths."
Aarohi is speaking for a long time and Rohan is listening without uttering a single word. Aarohi likes to give her views on a particular film and often writes about it. Rohan is the first person who Aarohi shares her views with. As most of the shooting takes place in the Havelis and palaces, Aarohi shares her dream of staying some days in such palaces with Rohan. Rohan replies, "No one knows what one can expect in the future." Hearing this Aarohi’s face illuminates and she continues with her views on the film.
According to Aarohi, the film is quite a good one but it is a bit lengthy. She likes the songs in the film which is quite good and nice. According to Aarohi, the movie is an Indian gangster version of the famous Shakespearean play Romeo and Juliet. The setting is quite Shakespearean with palaces surrounding the plot of the play. Both the main characters have shown excellent skills of acting and have depicted both their reel and real-life chemistry in the film. Overall, the film is quite good to be watched if you are looking for a romantic thriller with a bit of drama in it.
