We watched a movie together after a long time. And to be honest, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani made me realise and analyse so many things.
The title in itself is a line that most of the teenagers connect with themselves. Deewani means a person who is in love. Here in this movie, love is ambiguous. One kind of love depicts that life is about running, falling, moving and another kind means to love and to let go. Life in itself is a beautiful question. More than millions of ways to live life, yet we choose what we love.
In the movie, the way the meaning of life is explained is something extraordinary and completely justified in today's fast paced world. The story revolves around two individuals. The protagonist Kabir, looks at the aesthetic side of time. He refuses to stay at one place, rather chooses to explore each and every corner of the world. He knows what he exactly wants from his life. On the other hand, there is Naina who is just an ordinary girl leading a simple life with not-so-extraordinary dreams. We usually mistake calling people uncool who always follow their ethics and values. She has an aesthetic character in the movie who dreams big but with the determination which is not everyone's cup of tea. And she also knows the true meaning of love.
So Kabir and Naina, both go on a trip together. She falls in love with Kabir. Kabir unaware of her feelings, keep on taking care of her. He makes her see life through his eyes. When Naina is about to confess her feelings, Kabir gets what he exactly wanted from his life, his dream job in which he would get to travel across the world, see different places and explore new things. Controlling her feelings, she gathers all courage to encourage him instead of telling him how deeply she was in love with him. She hugs her for one last time and waves goodbye with a smiling face but a crying heart.
I wonder will I be ever able to be so brave to let Rohan set free for his dreams. Will I be so courageous to let him go. These questions kept on circling my mind. But then I realised, love is not about me, it's about us. And all I want is to see Rohan happy. Then in the movie, destiny had some other plans. Both of them met again after several years in one of the mutual friend's wedding. This time it was something different, they both fell in love with each other. Kabir didn't give up on his dreams, but also took Naina with him.
The movie is beautifully scripted. There is freedom that lies in love. Staying at one place, and being loyal to one. The true freedom of life is to let yourself stay at one place and yet explore every dimension. And then, it ends with a wedding ring and a happy note.
